The Gasthof zur Sonne belongs to the municipality of Karneid, but is located neither in the village of Karneid nor in Kardaun, but already at the entrance to the Eggental valley. Take the A22 Brenner motorway to the Bolzano Nord exit, then follow the road towards Val d’Ega. About 1.7 kilometres after the second tunnel, you’ll find the Gasthof zur Sonne on the right. For navigation, we recommend simply entering “Gasthof zur Sonne” into Google Maps.
Take the train to Bolzano. From the bus station, take the bus towards Nova Levante or Nova Ponente. After around 15 minutes, you’ll arrive directly at the “Gasthof Sonne” bus stop.
You can also reach us by bike away from the main road, via Karneid and St. Veit. The route takes you through the countryside around Karneid and completely avoids the tunnels on the Eggental road.
Start in the centre of Kardaun and follow the Karneider Straße uphill towards Karneid. From there, continue via St. Veit to the Brentwaldhof holiday apartments (which you can enter as an intermediate destination in Google Maps).
The first 7.7 kilometres are on paved roads and take around 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on your fitness level. This is followed by approximately 2.5 kilometres on a forest road. Follow it all the way to the end and you’ll arrive directly at the Gasthof zur Sonne.

The nearest airports are Bolzano (13 km), Innsbruck (122 km) and Verona Villafranca (158 km). From there, you can easily reach the Gasthof zur Sonne by train and bus – relaxed, straightforward and without lengthy detours.
